North Korea Denounces NATO Summit Declaration

(ConservativeJournal.org) – The recent NATO summit declaration drew criticism from North Korea’s Foreign Ministry, which threatened to react and neutralize what it described as a “threat” to its country. The announcement was reported by the state-controlled Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) on July 13.

The NATO summit document was finalized after three days of consecutive meetings between the alliance’s leaders. It accuses North Korea and Iran of aiding Russia in its war against Ukraine by supplying military assistance to Moscow. With Russia’s military supplies dwindling and domestic production hindered by Western sanctions, North Korea has emerged as a major weapons provider to Russia. Reports indicate that Moscow has received significant military supplies from Pyongyang, including millions of artillery shells.

The declaration further stated that any transfer of ballistic missiles and related technology from Iran to Russia would significantly escalate the situation.

China was cited in the NATO statement as a facilitator of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, posing a threat to the alliance’s security and interests. Beijing rejected this accusation, calling on NATO to stop its provocation.

North Korea dismissed the NATO document as “illegal”, and argued that NATO and the US together are the biggest threat to the security of the world. North Korea’s criticism of Washington echoed popular Russian propaganda. In its statement, North Korea claims it will not back down from what it calls a serious threat. It also threatened to use a more forceful level of strategy to completely deter any aggression. North Korea has recently conducted multiple missile tests into the sea off its eastern coast. These actions are seen by South Korea as glaringly provocative.

A recently signed alliance agreement between Moscow and Pyongyang that promises mutual aid in the event of an attack has alarmed the White House. This agreement should alarm not only the US, but also China, as it threatens the stability of the Korean peninsula.
