Need a Large Appliance? Timing Is Everything

(ConservativeJournal.org) – No matter what brand a person buys or how well they take care of their appliances, the machines will all eventually end up as scrap. The unfortunate truth is appliances are expensive to replace! That’s why it’s important to shop around and buy when the timing is right. When might that be, you say? Well, whenever you find it at the right cost. Check out the most common sale times to do just that.

Appliance manufacturers typically release a new model every year. This is a great time to buy last year’s as stores will discount prices, sometimes by more than 50%. Refrigerators generally go on sale in May, just before summer sets in.

Early fall is a great time to pick up heating equipment for homes. Water heaters will usually get discounted around this time. Labor Day through the holidays and beyond are generally good times to keep an eye out for deals, especially with commissioned salespeople scrambling to meet quotas. Several other appliances, ranging from washers and dryers to stoves and ovens, typically go on sale during this time in preparation for the holiday season.

The end of the year can be a great opportunity for discounts as well. Then, of course, you can’t forget those deeply reduced post-holiday clearances. Many appliances go on sale just in time for the new year’s models.

Don’t wait for the summer heat to set in only to realize you need a new air conditioner. In fact, don’t wait for any of your appliances to fail before buying a new one. No harm in saving money, and you’ll need to replace them eventually. Why spend full price when you don’t need to?
