Illegal Migrant Wanted For Drug Trafficking in Spain Arrested In United States

(ConservativeJournal.org) – A Colombian national wanted on drug trafficking charges in Spain was busted in Massachusetts on June 29 by U.S. officials in Revere. The unnamed 25-year-old was caught after he was identified driving an unregistered vehicle sans license.

Massachusetts State Police turned him over to Immigrations and Customs Enforcement shortly after identifying him. The deportation department with ICE issued a detainer on the suspect to make sure he’s not released by local police.

Detainers allow ICE to inform local and state police that the individual is wanted for border violations and will undergo deportation proceedings after facing justice for whatever their criminal behavior was.

Spanish cops also want a piece of the suspect; he’s facing drug trafficking charges in their country. ICE officials couldn’t explain exactly what the allegations against him were from the Spanish authorities, however.

ICE told corporate press that the man has been in the U.S. for over two years, crossing into the country over the southern border on July 4, 2022. Border Patrol gave him a court date and let him into the country under Biden’s effectively open border policy.

ERO Boston Field Office Director Todd Lyons called him “a Colombian fugitive” and said he was wanted for “trafficking poison” in Spain without getting more specific. He further claimed the suspect was hiding from justice in Massachusetts which wouldn’t be tolerated. The suspect is currently being held in ICE facilities awaiting deportation.

ICE explained that they weren’t identifying the man due to privacy rights; typically someone must be accused of “significant criminality” in the U.S. before they announce his name. Driving without a license in an unregistered vehicle doesn’t qualify.

ICE regularly busts drug traffickers who work for cartels and claim asylum to deceptively access the country under a false-premise. A 12-day operation in March resulted in over 200 illegals being arrested for dealing hard drugs like fentanyl, methamphetamine, heroin, and cocaine, among other drugs. The bust took place between March 11 and the 22 and was coordinated between 25 different jurisdictions including major cities like Washington, D.C., Seattle, and Boston.
