(ConservativeJournal.org) – Two people were detained by police after one of them allegedly stole over $625,000 in cash and $27,000 in chips from a cage in a local casino.
The incident was reported on Thursday, July 18, when someone contacted the police department about a theft which occured at the Casino of Primm Valley. The casino is located on the border between Nevada and California, according to documents reviewed by the local news outlets shortly after the arrest was made.
John Salmen and his wife, Lydia Salmen, were swiftly arrested and charged with theft and burglary.
According to official documents, authorities believe that Lydia Salmen was the one who accessed the casino’s cage area through a small hole in the cage bars and spent about an hour inside, stealing.
An employee alerted police after entering the cage area and noticing a mess in the room. All the drawers were reportedly left open and there was loose money on the floor. Police tracked down the Salmens using information from their vehicle and previous encounters with officers at the casino. During a search of their home, officers found money bags and casino chips. Detectives discovered about $625,000 in cash and approximately $27,000 worth of stolen chips for the casino at the property.
Brad Egnor, chief marketing officer for Affinity Interactive, expressed gratitude towards the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) for their swift action. Primm is within the jurisdiction of the Las Vegas metropolitan Police Department, which oversees much of Clark County. He said he is indebted to the police for their quick response and being able to recover mostly all the money stolen. Egnor expressed happiness that no civilian or police employee was harmed in the robbery. According to him, it was an isolated case and it seems the suspects did not want to get caught either.
