(ConservativeJournal.org) – Following his poor performance in the recent debate against former President Donald Trump, US President Joe Biden’s reelection campaign has been a little shaky. Even major Democrat news outlets began calling for Biden to step down from candidacy to replace him with somebody else.
The concerns for Biden are mostly his age and his cognitive ability, which became apparent to most at the debate. Voters have also expressed dissatisfaction with Biden’s support for Israel in the current Gaza conflict. Several Democrats have since suggested replacing him.
Despite the criticism, Biden remains firm in his decision to run for re-election. He has received support from several US governors after a recent meeting. However, with four months to go before the election, there is still the possibility that someone new could replace Biden.
Robert F Kennedy Jr is mostly known for being part of the Kennedy family, his environmental activism, and his legal work. He could appeal to voters seeking a familiar and trusted name in politics.
The current Vice President, Kamala Harris, is already known among voters and has significant experience in the Senate. Her candidacy would also maintain the status quo of Biden’s administration.
The Governor of California, Gavin Newsom, is known for being very progressive and mostly aligning with Biden’s policies, especially during the pandemic. His experience and policy initiatives make him a strong contender. Similarly to Harris, with his election the Democrat side of the government would not change.
The Governor of Michigan, Gretchen Whitmer, has been praised for her handling of the pandemic and her focus on healthcare and infrastructure. She could appeal to Midwest voters and those looking for a leader who can appeal to both sides.
If the Democratic Party chooses to select someone other than Joe Biden as their nominee, each of these potential replacements can be considered as strong alternatives.
