Trump, DeSantis Make Peace And Discuss Fundraising For Campaign

(ConservativeJournal.org) – Former President Donald Trump and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis met over the weekend to bury the proverbial hatchet. Their relationship was good before competing in the GOP primary which featured terse jabs from both camps directed at the other.

They sat for three hours and discussed joint fundraising to help Trump win the presidency. DeSantis agreed to help Trump win against incumbent President Joe Biden and the pair ended the meeting by shaking hands. All the sources for the story were speaking on the condition of anonymity.

The event was arranged by real estate mogul Steve Witkoff and took place on Sunday, April 28 at Witkoff’s Shell Bay Club in Hollywood, Florida.

Trump said the pair enjoyed their time together, he called it “a great meeting” on April 29 and indicated that he had “enthusiastic support” from the governor. He said they talked about the future of Florida as well as the nation and that he “greatly” appreciates support from DeSantis in the battle to take the country back from Joe Biden, whom he referred to as “the Worst President” ever in the history of the country.

DeSantis has accumulated an extensive network of donors as indicated by his $130 million campaign war chest going into the primary. DeSantis pulled out of the primary shortly following the Iowa caucuses after failing to hit his target. Trump was the clear victor.

Despite the endorsement, DeSantis and Trump were still at odds and the governor has yet to appear besides Trump during campaign events or fundraisers. The men have had a chilly relationship in the aftermath of the primary, but if these sources are accurate that will change going forward.

The primary revealed a deep rivalry between the two camps. DeSantis previously suggested that Trump would lose the general election and Trump had smacked DeSantis with one of his nicknames, in his case Ron “DeSanctimonious.” DeSantis had also suggested Trump wasn’t as sharp as he was in 2016.
