Top Senator Wants Stronger Condemnation From Democrats

( – In the midst of escalating tensions in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Senator Lindsey Graham has become a vocal figure in advocating for a united front against violence in the region. However, he recently found himself at the center of a heated exchange with a reporter over the silence of some Democratic senators regarding their stance on recent events in Israel.

The controversy arose when Daniel Cohen, an Israel correspondent for Newsmax, asked a question that put Democratic senators visiting Israel on the spot. Cohen inquired whether any Democrats from the 10-member delegation wanted to respond to a tweet by Representative Rashida Tlaib in which she accused Israel of bombing a hospital in Gaza. Despite emerging evidence suggesting that the hospital blast was caused by a rocket fired by Palestinian militants, Tlaib’s tweet remained untouched by them.

Senator Graham, known for his unwavering support of Israel, promptly interjected to prevent a potentially divisive discussion. He first told him to stop. Graham firmly stated as Cohen persisted in his line of questioning, urging him again more firmly to stop.

Undeterred, Cohen asserted that it was a “fair question.” Senator Graham, however, reminded everyone of the purpose of their visit. He stated they were not gathered to talk about the problems at home, although he admitted there were a lot. Nonetheless, Cohen continued to press the issue, which further agitated the situation.

The senator eventually called for Cohen’s removal, demanding, “Get this guy out of here.” A spirited exchange between the two continued until Graham, after some reflection, offered an apology for his outburst. Regarding the outburst, he eventually apologized, he said “I’m sorry”, and explained that he was on edge due to the conflict. Graham reasserted his unwavering support for Israel.

Graham stressed the importance of not passing judgment on lawmakers based on the statements of others within their party.
