(ConservativeJournal.org) – Former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley announced she will vote for Donald Trump in the 2024 election. Her announcement is her first public statement since halting her own presidential campaign 2 months ago.
Haley acknowledged that Trump has not been perfect in a lot of ways, but she criticized President Joe Biden as being far worse.
She has urged Trump to reach out to her voter base, emphasizing that he should not assume they automatically support him.
During the primary, Haley and Trump were not on the best terms, with Haley questioning Trump’s mental capacity as president and Trump mocking her husband’s military deployment. Despite this, Haley is now backing Trump, albeit after some harsh criticism during their rivalry. She previously stated that Trump’s disrespect for the military should disqualify him from being president.
Haley has expressed strong support for Israel’s war against Hamas and criticized Biden’s lacking military aid to Israel. She argued that Biden’s approach makes the conflicts last longer and end up doing more harm than good.
Haley also called on Republicans to back Ukraine and Israel in their conflicts, praising House Speaker Mike Johnson for him constantly passing aid packages for both of those countries. She said that military support is an investment in global stability against authoritarian countries, saying it’s much more than just “aid packages” and that this type of support is necessary.
Despite ending her own campaign, she has continued to get votes in Republican primaries, showing that it might be hard to unite the GOP under Trump.
Biden’s campaign has noted Haley’s influence and has been targeting her supporters through various ads, hoping to remind them of Trump’s past insults towards her. This strategy shows that Biden is trying in any way to capitalize on any divisions happening within the Republican party to get more voters.
