Judge Smiles For Camera At Trump Trial

(ConservativeJournal.org) – The commencement of former President Donald Trump’s civil fraud trial in New York saw social media abuzz with criticism aimed at the presiding judge, Judge Arthur Engoron, after cameras captured straight up smiling for the cameras in the courtroom.

Conservatives on social media platforms expressed immediate outrage on Monday, October 2, reacting to a brief moment when Judge Arthur Engoron appeared to pose for cameras in the courtroom. Article III Project founder and president Mike Davis labeled the judge a “a partisan and clown” while Greg Price, State Freedom Caucus Network Comms Director, accused him of smiling and laughing as the US turns into a third world country.

Trump adviser Stephen Miller chimed in, noting the perceived disappearance of democracy, while Rep. Andrew Clyde called it a “kangaroo court” session, and author Julie Kelly used the term “demons” to describe the situation. Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch, referred to it as a “show trial.”

Many news outlets tried to reach out to the judge, but the New York State Office of Court Administration declined to provide a statement.

Trump remained defiant both before entering the courtroom and during a lunch recess on Monday, referring to Judge Engoron as a “Democrat” and an “operative.” Trump characterized the court as “rigged” and Attorney General Letitia James as a “radical-left attorney general.” He also asserted that Judge Engoron should be disbarred and suggested that he might face criminal charges for interfering with an election, emphasizing that he and his legal team had previously prevailed in 80% of the case in the appellate division.

Trump’s lawyers had previously highlighted James’ campaign promise to “get Trump” if elected, while James herself, upon entering the courthouse, expressed her belief that “justice will prevail” and accused Trump of artificially inflating his businesses’ value and net worth, stating that no person is above the law at all.
