(ConservativeJournal.org) – Former Arkansas Republican Gov. Mike Huckabee suggested that the criminal trial for Donald Trump regarding payments to Stormy Daniels is a Democrat ploy to weaponize the government to attack a political enemy. Huckabee appeared on Newsmax’s “Wake Up America” on Tuesday, April 23.
Huckabee highlighted that Trump has an “uncanny ability to control the news cycle” despite the mounting lawfare being waged against him and not holding office. He suggested that Joe Biden has trouble getting the media to cover one of his speeches. Huckabee pointed out that Biden typically doesn’t take questions or if he does, they come from allies in the media who were prearranged.
Huckabee said that Biden’s Earth Day speech was nothing spectacular and resulted in a dearth of reportable content. He said that if one were to cover the speech they’d have to mention that Biden stumbled climbing up to the podium and had to be helped down. He said Biden’s staff works hard to keep certain items out of the news cycle.
Huckabee argued that Trump was entertaining. He said that Trump news brings “an adventure” to each new day; there’s always something Trump related in the news.
Huckabee added that many viewers observing Trump’s NY trial believe the entire thing is a sham. He went on to suggest that the attacks against Trump using the legal system may actually be backfiring and garnering more support for the former president due to the perception that the establishment is stacking the deck against him.
Huckabee compared the treatment of Donald Trump today to Hillary Clinton in 2016 who actively interfered in the election with the production of the Steele dossier. The contents of that debunked phony report were used to spin the tale that Russia interfered in the election to help Trump win. It was a complete and total lie. Clinton was never charged with a crime, Huckabee pointed out.
Huckabee concluded saying the trial “stinks to high heaven,” elaborating how the charges don’t even fit the crime and had to be stretched by legal shenanigans to make them work within the statute of limitations.
