(ConservativeJournal.org) – A gun fight on the southern border resulted in the death of one violent criminal. Early on the morning of Sunday, March 3 armed raiders attempted to rob illegal aliens in a remote part of San Diego County. Armed Americans with the Border Patrol Tactical Team (BORTAC) engaged the group, killing one of them. The rest of the illegals fled back into Mexico.
BORTAC representatives reported that the area is known as a frequent corridor for illegal migration, which is likely why it was targeted by the raiders. President of the National Border Patrol Council Brandon Judd suggested that bandits along the border have become more brazen in their willingness to attack people which resulted in an increase in regular patrols.
Judd said they were engaged in armed robbery “right in front of our cameras,” in comments given on Monday. US Border Patrol Chief Jason Owens posted photographs of armed robbers to X (Twitter). Judd also suggested that multiple agencies responded to the incident, including DHS, FBI, CBP, and the San Diego Sheriff’s Department.
Judd qualified the battle as a clash between border patrol and a heavily armed group of non-citizens. He also compared the event to the 2010 shootout that resulted in the death of border patrolman Brian Terry.
Both President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump visited the southern border recently. Biden attempted to entreat Trump to “join” his efforts to secure the border, suggesting that a recently offered “bipartisan” bill was an effective solution to the crisis. Republican conservatives in both the House and Senate rejected that bill, Trump was also opposed to the deal.
The agreement would have legalized a significant number of criminal entrants per year, up to 2 million. Many complained that the problem wasn’t actually addressed by the bill and that it instead enshrined the current status quo into law.
Trump has repeatedly highlighted crimes like the murder of 22-year-old nursing student Laken Riley. Riley’s suspected murderer is an illegal immigrant who was arrested in NYC, but let go without being deported due to the Democrats’ refusal to enforce existing immigration law. The “sanctuary city” policy is now being critically reexamined in the wake of her brutal murder.
