(ConservativeJournal.org) – A new Washington Post/Ipsos/ABC News poll has Trump dominating the field of Republican challengers to Biden’s incumbent presidency across multiple metrics. The poll also showed a resounding disapproval for Joe Biden’s performance in the Oval Office, with 58% disapproving of his presidency. Only 33% supported Biden, a new low potentially triggered by insecurity on the global stage and poor conditions in the American economy.
Trump never had poll numbers this bad during his presidency. The poll indicates that Trump has the potential support of 72% of the Republican-leaning electorate, at least based on their representative sample of over two thousand Americans. Sixty-one percent of the same cohort said they’d support Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis if he were the Republican nominee.
Republican voters wouldn’t be as happy with former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley as the GOP candidate (48% said they’d be satisfied), Vivek Ramaswamy (44% approved), or former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson (only 17% approved).
President Joe Biden’s performance in office has been dismal, according to voters. The number of Americans who approved of his performance in office is the lowest rating the country has had since the administration of George W. Bush.
Seventy-one percent of respondents said that the economy was “in bad shape.”
The poll showed Trump dominating the competition in a range of metrics including strongest leader, best chance to win versus Biden, most qualified, represents your values, and understands your problems.
Trump dominated the Iowa caucus vote, receiving 51% of the vote formalizing his status as GOP front-runner by the end of the night on Monday, January 15th.
Trump’s win in Iowa broke records, including receiving the most support ever for a single candidate and having the widest margin of victory. The previous records were 41% of the vote for George W. Bush in 2000, and 12% for the margin of victory by Bob Dole in 1988. Trump’s margin of victory versus runner-up Ron DeSantis was ~30 points.
